Our Chanukah Party was Great!
Following the pattern established a few years ago, our Pre-Chanukah party on Sunday 18 December was an afternoon tea. This means that we have a much better attendance, especially among our children. For our adults there was plenty of chat, for our kids there was plenty of games and dreidles to make and decorate, and for everyone there was plenty of food and drink. What could be bad!
And when we were not eating, drinking, chatting, playing games or being artistic, we were singing, and here is the proof.
All in all, I think the party was a great success. But it could not have happened without the support of a lot of people. So, thanks to chief organiser and caterer, Jackie Tabick, and to all those who brought food and drink to add to the fare. And thanks to Mikki Tabick for organising the children’s activities, even though she was not well enough to be present on the day. Looking forward to doing it again next year!
Mayor of Camden Visits Shir Hayim
On the eve of the tenth anniversary of the tragedies of 9/11, The Mayor of Camden, Cllr. Abdul Quadir, brought a message of harmony when he visited Shir Hayim, the Hampstead Reform Jewish Community, for a Sabbath service on Saturday morning 10 September.
Attendance was good, and the mayor was made to feel welcome.
In his sermon, Rabbi Larry Tabick paraphrased Franklin Roosevelt, saying that ‘we have nothing to hate, except hatred itself.’
Replying, Cllr. Quadir thanked the community for their invitation, and outlined his vision of ‘a multi-cultural, multi-faith, multi-ethnic Camden living in harmony’.
